Our mission is simple: To reach groups of young "at risk" kids and help get them so excited about reading that they never want to put their books down!  By partnering with local small businesses and community organizations, we bring FREE personalized books to these very special children.  There is something truly magical when the children open their books for the first time and see THEIR NAMES in the story.  The smiles, excitement and self-esteem boost these books can bring is a powerful gift that extends well beyond the day they receive this gift.

Over the past 10 years, the MDL Give-A-Book Program has provided thousands of books to children in Head Start Programs and local schools throughout many Maryland counties and Baltimore City, but there are so many more children who need our help.

We would love to have your business or community group join us on this journey to share the fun of reading with young children across the state.  For more details, please contact Wendy Elover at 410-925-4608.  Together, we can truly make a difference.

Grandma Mindy enjoying time with her grandkids*The MDL Give-A-Book Program is named in loving memory of Mindy D. Laufer (pictured to the right with her granddaughters).  She is the mom of BooksAboutYou.com owner & Give-A-Book coordinator, Wendy Elover.  In addition to being a wonderful mom and grandma, Mindy was also very active in her community and held many leadership roles in the PTA, religious groups and civic organizations.

She became a literacy volunteer after retiring.  She tutored adults, teaching them reading and math.  She also volunteered in the Kindergarten classroom at a local elementary school up until the time of her passing.  She loved to see people excited about learning, and we are so proud to carry on her memory and this special mission through the MDL Give-A-Book Program.
